“Sumptuous scenery surrounds a cozy, inviting inn” https://glynnhouse.com/guest-comments Wow! What a wonderful review! Thank you for taking the time to provide a detailed review of your stay. The Eisenhower Deluxe Suite is a guest favorite. Accommodation includes a private porch, separate sitting room and bedroom. Like all our suites, the room contains a double whirlpool bath and fireplace. The Inn is situated within minutes of what is arguably the most attractive lake in the Eastern United States – Squam Lake. It was the ‘set’ for the film On Golden Pond, and hasn’t changed in the three plus decades since the film was shot. The White Mountains Region begins four miles north of the Inn. Visitors can go to the top of the highest mountain east of the Mississippi, ski, hike or enjoy the scenic beauty of the Kancamagus National Bi-way. Our delicious gourmet breakfasts – served at separate tables in the elegant Victorian dining room – provide a great start to the day. As the reviewer notes, fall is a beautiful time to visit New Hampshire.

“We traveled to the gorgeous Lakes/White Mountain region to tour Robert Frost’s Franconia home, as well as to conduct archival work at Plymouth State University during Columbus Day weekend. Little did we know it would also turn out to be peak leaf peeping time. We felt immediately captivated by the Glynn House Inn, as soon as we spied its lovely bell tower from the street after a long day of driving/research/sightseeing. Pam helped us decamp in our charming Eisenhower Suite on the first floor of the spacious Carriage House behind the main house. We found the various hues of blue on the walls incredibly relaxing. After learning some dining tips from and exchanging tales of teaching with Pam, we relaxed in the comfy living room, with its plush chairs and ottoman, an antique game table, and a lovely lamp that cast just enough light. Our bathroom boasted a walk-in shower and lots of shelf space, while the separate bedroom offered a plush bed, fireplace and jacuzzi for two, as well as a dresser, closet and two night stands. We had a separate rear entrance, as well as the main entrance. Upstairs in the lounge is a microwave and a fridge for leftovers, as well as goodies. We soon became so relaxed that we ended up eating some leftovers that evening, then watching Monday Night Football. We found the tub and fireplace combo incredibly soothing. Breakfast the next morning in the cozy nook of the main house proved delicious, with excellent, attentive service from Glenn. They offer many choices that will please everyone. That morning, we enjoyed the Cheesy scramble and the waffles with tasty sage-filled sausage. Our fellow diners provided some delightful conversations, as did Glenn. Near the end of breakfast, our hosts’ charming young Dalmatians tried to sneak in to say hello (or look for leftovers). They were awfully sweet and well-behaved. My companion rushed off to her library appointment at PSU, while I adjourned to the front porch of the Carriage House, where I spent many happy hours with my crocheting (part of my business). Talk about mixing business with pleasure! The autumn day was cool and partly sunny, but the lovely garden proved delightful. We extended our stay to accommodate our research. The restaurant Pam recommended, The Common Man (Ashland), proved delicious. We then drove back through Kancamagus Highway, which Glenn had recommended that morning. We live in New England, so we’re used to incredible autumns, but the combination of so many mountain peaks with the rich hues of red, pink, orange, yellow and deep pine green proved breathtaking, despite the appearance of mists and clouds. If anything, the changing weather gave us a deeper appreciation of the majesty Frost must have witnessed from his home in nearby Franconia. We had seen the leaves and mountains in brilliant sunshine the previous day, so we felt as though our experience could not have been more complete. The following morning, we had another sumptuous breakfast of pancakes, bacon and a gigantic, flaky croissant sandwich layered with egg, salsa and bacon. We felt fortified for our journey home. We discovered we had been robbed at the place we had stayed on our way to Glynn House, and we had scarcely half the room cost on our card. Glenn and Pam kindly put through what we had, then waited to process the rest until we could reload our card the next day after our return. We felt so relieved, given how embarrassing and distressing that sort of thing can be. In three decades of staying in some marvelous inns, we found Glenn, Pam and their daughter Ingrid ranked at the very top rung of hosts. They blend knowledge, charm, diligence and wit with a dedication to perfect service. We also appreciated how hands on they are, right down to handling the cleaning while they try to find more help. That’s an awful lot of work in a day, but they do it so seamlessly, with a smile, a laugh and a conversation. We lost our beloved terriers earlier this year, so it was also comforting to spend some time with the family’s adorable Dalmatians.” Room Tip: They all seem wonderful; it just depends what features you want. Green Features: The Inn practices towel conservation, recycling, local food, and other environment-saving measures. Stayed October 2015, traveled on business
